Cyclone Battalion Army ROTC hosts cadets, families, and special guests for the annual military ball
Purpose: Familiarize families with ROTC activities and achievements, recognize cadets who have excelled and performed exceptionally well, and provide a comfortable atmosphere to facilitate team bonding

The Cyclone Battalion’s annual military ball was an extreme success. Many cadets were recognized for excellence during the awards ceremony, boosting morale and developing team unity. The Guest speakers provided valuable advice to develop future leaders of the army. Army ROTC events and activities were showcased, providing information and orientation on Cyclone Battalion and military events to parents and families. Even more importantly, all cadets were introduced to the customs and courtesies of the formal dining out and the MSIV leadership was tested by planning , preparing and executing a complex event that included General Officer level guest speaker, families, 3 separate universities, and the hotel and conference center.

Cyclone Battalion hosted the annual military ball on 03Mar2012 at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center in Ames Iowa. MG Heidi Brown of Missile Defense and Dr. Becky Parrish Maj(R) USAF were guest speakers. A surprise auctioneer volunteered his services and helped Cyclone Battalion raise $3000 during the raffle. Cadets prepared and presented class skits as entertainment and a DJ provided a dance following the formal ceremony. Parents became familiarized with events and activities conducted at Iowa State and satellite schools through ROTC, as well as an introduction to military ceremony and formalities. Many cadets received recognition during the awards ceremony for excellence.
