Drake Army ROTC Super-Flag Unfolding Ceremony

CATEGORIES: Drake, News

Drake Army ROTC will volunteer for the Drake Relays Super Flag display held on 28 APR 2012. Purpose: Drake Cadets participate in a publicly-held event to honor area veterans and promote patriotism.

Key Tasks:
•Unfold the massive ceremonial flag.
•Represent Drake ROTC in a positive manner.
•Assist Drake University in an annually held event.

Drake cadets were a helpful addition to the 300 volunteers who helped to unfold the flag.

During the Drake Relays flag display event, cadets acted in a responsible manner. Relays director Brian Brown has repeatedly counted on Drake cadets to help make Drake Relays a top notch event. He only has positive things to say about the Drake program. AROTC laid the foundation for future support by coordinating for ISU AROTC, ISU AFROTC, and Iowa AFROTC to support the Relays

Drake Army ROTC cadets unfolded a massive 160’ x 300’ long American Flag along with 300 other volunteers on 28 APR 2012. The event was held as a salute to the Troops and to honor area veterans who were attending Drake Relays. Of the volunteers, there were 50 cross-service cadets, including University of Iowa and Iowa State University. The flag was successfully unfolded in an 8 minute ceremony that cost Drake University $5000. Relays director Brian Brown was grateful for Drake ROTC’s help at the event.
