Cadets selected for mission abroad

CATEGORIES: CULP, News

Area residents were among students from Iowa State University selected to attend the U.S. Army Cadet Command’s Cultural Understanding and Language Program.

Each year the program sends teams of Army ROTC cadets on summer cultural missions. After a week of preparation at Fort Knox, Ky., the cadets spend three weeks in another country doing everything from teaching children English to rebuilding roads to training with the nation’s military. The program in each country is tailored to the requests of the host nation.

Area participants include: Matthew Miller, Bettendorf, serving in Ukraine; and Frederick Thompson, Bettendorf.
