Boy Scouts learn winter survival skills

Teams of cadets volunteered to teach courses, as 12 to 17-year-old scouts rotated through. Classes in the Armory covered land navigation, signaling, first aid and personal hygiene. Outdoor classes in Pammel Woods covered fire and shelter building and water and food procurement. Sparse snow and a 48-degree high made for a different training than previous years.

ROTC graduates enter leadership roles

Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. in the South Ballroom, the cadets concluded their ROTC journeys and began new ones as commissioned second lieutenants in the United States Army.

Iowa State’s Army ROTC takes on water survival test

Iowa State’s Army ROTC Cadets were tested in several water survival situations on Nov. 19 at Beyer Hall. Cadets were challenged to tread water in full gear, carry equipment over a distance in water and be lunged from a platform into deep water.
